More Found Stuff
Remember a while back when I found the online magazine Found? Well, earlier today on CBC's North By Northwest, they did a program on Found magazine as well as found sounds. One part of the program focused on Found magazine's live performances. During these performances, they take old notes found by readers of the mag and read them aloud to the audience. It's too bad that the CBC doesn't archive all their shows unlike it's US counterpart, NPR. Thankfully, This American Life has a copy of their broadcast here, but you'll have to wait 'till the end of the program to hear it.
Another cool example of found art that they displayed was music by this group called Tas1000. Tas 1000's new album, A Message From Martha. A Message From Martha takes messages from old answering machines found in thrift shops, garage sales et cetra and takes the messages and turns them into lyrics for beat heavy pseudo electronica. It's doubtful that you'll hear it on the top 40, but it's unique music. You can check out some of their tracks here.
Happy hunting.
